Earth and Moon as seen from Mercury

Another cool shot courtesy of Astronomy Picture of the Day. This was taken by the robot probe Messenger when it was near to Mercury’s orbit (not near the planet itself, but from about the same distance) a few months ago.

Everyone who’s ever lived, everyone you know, everyone you ever will know, will be born, live, and die on that bright little circle on the left.

Sobering thought.
