The earthquake that rocked Haiti a few days ago is every bit as bad as it first appeared. The capital of Port-au-Prince is largely destroyed, and the infrastructure of a nation that didn’t have much of one to begin with has collapsed. Initial estimates put the death toll at 45,000 to 50,000, and possibly much more.
Do what you can to help, even if it’s only a donation of $10 or $20. Every little bit helps.
Here are some fine organizations that could use donations of items, money, or your time:
- American Red Cross
- International Red Cross
- Doctors Without Borders
- UNICEF
- Mission Central (a local charity for those living in the Harrisburg, PA area)
Or some other organization of your choice. Send money. Send non-perishable food. Send blankets, or shampoo, or soap, or bandaids, or bottled water. Volunteer. But please do something.
