The Words of Making

There is a deep history in the Osserian Saga, from the opening of the prologue to the richness of his wizards. David Forbes has created a rich world that would do well under further exploration … Forbes tears down a number of the clichés of the genre and reveals hidden truths behind what seem to be typical elements of an Epic Fantasy story.

wordsofmaking smallGerin’s victory over the Storm King brings peace to Khedesh, but only for a time. Some within his own kingdom conspire against him, determined to prevent a wizard from ascending to the throne.

Invaders from across the sea appear on their shores in vast numbers. The Havalqa seek an ancient, mysterious magic known as the Words of Making, the literal power of creation spoken at the beginning of time to create the world and all things in it.

The Havalqa are also seeking Gerin Atreyano, who they believe holds the key to finding the Words. The invaders have power that can thwart even the magic of an amber wizard and the might to crush a continent.

Gerin and those he holds most dear must do everything they can to prevent the Havalqa from achieving their goals, otherwise the world as they know it will come to an end.

what next?im so anxious for the next installment, that i cant stand the wait.i’ve just finished “the commanding stone “(oct.21,2009)and im left empty… what next?

  • David Forbes

    Hi Jim,
I’m glad you liked THE COMMANDING STONE! You’re officially the first reader I’ve heard back from, and I’m glad it’s positive!

As for when you’ll see THE FELL KING, unfortunately your guess is as good as mine. The publishing industry is in disarray right now from the economic collapse. HarperCollins was hit as bad as everyone else, so very little movement is happening with me and a lot of other midlist writers. Keep your fingers crossed and hope for brisk sales.

    David,

Is that novel still on the back burner?

  • davidforbes

Hi Tim. My apologies, your comment slipped through the cracks and I only saw it this morning.

I’m not sure what book you’re referring to, but if it’s book four in the series, THE PATH OF ASHES, then I’m sorry to say that it is completely dead. My publisher dropped the series due to declining sales. I did post the original ending of THE COMMANDING STONE here on the site if you’re interested to see what I really wanted to do. Here’s the link: http://www.davidforbes.net/archives/3351

I did just publish a young adult fantasy called EVERWHEN. There’s lots of info here at the site, and you can pick it up at any of the major ebook retailers like Amazon, iBooks, Nook, and Kobo. You can also get a trade paperback from Amazon if that’s your preference.

Again, sorry for the delayed response!
